Now here's a Pomona local that has been making a huge impact on the music scene. Skies of Ruin is a metalcore/deathcore band from Pomona, CA that got their start in 2008. While many bands have focused on heartbreaks, gore, destruction, fame, and brutality, Pomona's own Skies of Ruin has set out to prove that California has more to metal than just catchy guitar riffs and heavy breakdowns.
Skies of Ruin came together to go beyond just playing simple house shows and blasting metal in their cars. A solid line up emerged in 2010, consisting of Andre Cha
vez, Adam Reyes, Steven Gonzales, Sam Fritz, Ronnie Casanova, and Marcos Alvarez. The band pushed themselves to blend the various forms of metal and hardcore they grew up with. Armed with a diverse combination of spiritual lyrics, powerful melodies, and ground breaking piano pieces, Skies of Ruin released its first EP "Wastelands" in the summer of 2011. The band embodies a focused determination to progress themselves as artists, spread their message of enlightenment, and devastate fans with their insane stage presence.
Having that said, this band has been very influential to all rising local bands as seeing Skies of Ruin have pushed the limits with their hard work and really made a name for themselves.
